Ministry of Internal Affairs introduces mandatory fingerprinting for foreigners arriving into the Russian Federation
"From the beginning of next year the Ministry of Interior Affairs will launch the procedure of fingerprinting for all foreign nationals who enter the territory of the Russian Federation", - the First Vice-Minister of Internal Affairs Alexander Gorovoy said.
Elena Sutormina, Chairwoman of the RF Civic Chamber Commission on Public Diplomacy and Support for Compatriots Living Abroad, earlier proposed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs a mandatory fingerprinting for foreigners entering the country. In her letter to the Minister she underlined that such a procedure could become an additional measure of protection against the terrorist threat to Russian citizens.
"Time has come for our country to introduce additional measures protecting our citizens from terrorist threats. Moreover, fingerprinting would be a fair measure in response to the US and the EU countries that have already introduced such a procedure for Russian citizens", - the letter stated.
